Tiffin has been ranked one of the top 20 most affordable towns in Ohio for college students. The findings also suggest that Tiffin is an affordable place for young professionals, families and retirees.
Great College Deals recently released their list of the "20 Most Affordable College Towns in Ohio," comparing the 130 universities in Ohio and the towns in which their students live. Their research found that the cost of living in Tiffin is 15% lower than the national average and 3% lower than the state average, making it a great place for college students to live.
From the article:
"Tiffin is home to two major universities: Tiffin University and Heidelberg University. With a cost of living that is lower than both the national and state averages, Tiffin is a great place for students, young professionals, families, and retirees. A nature center, a theme park, and various museums are popular tourism destinations, while public libraries, parks, and a walkable downtown area provide residents with everything they need for a high quality of life. Food and entertainment costs in Tiffin are right on par with the national average, but healthcare, utilities, transportation, and housing are lower than the national norm."
The cost of living in Ohio is 12% lower than the national average, and the article aimed at identifying which towns in Ohio boast a cost of living lower than the state average. GCD staff used Wikipedia and Sperling’s Best Places to determine which towns were most affordable, looking at factors such as costs for housing, food, health, transportation, and utilities, as well as amenities, crime rates, public transportation, and overall quality of life and comparing them to national averages.
