State leaders gather for first-ever business town hall

Agency heads to hold public State Directors Summit on April 4 Prior to the State of the State address given by Governor Kasich in Sandusky, leaders of four state agencies will gather at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Bellevue on April 4 for a first of its kind, town-hall style event. Named the State Directors Summit, the event will provide updates on important programs and policy affecting Ohio’s businesses. Following the updates, questions will also be taken from the audience and answered by the participating leaders. The following department heads will be speaking: Director Sarah Morrison, Bureau of Workers’ Compensation – Ohio Governor John Kasich appointed Sarah Morrison Administrator/CEO of the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation in May 2016. She leads an agency of more than 1,900 employees that serves more than 250,000 employers and administers nearly 1 million open claims. Director Jaqueline T. Williams, Department of Commerce – Williams was appointed by Governor John Kasich in April 2015. She oversees the Department of Commerce, the state’s leading regulatory agency. Divisions include Financial Institutions, Securities, Industrial Compliance, Liquor Control, Real Estate, Unclaimed Funds, State Fire Marshal's office and the Medical Marijuana Program. Commissioner Joe Testa, Department of Taxation – Joe Testa was appointed Ohio Tax Commissioner by Governor John Kasich in January 2011. Testa leads an agency of about 1,000 employees and is successfully pursuing a mission to reduce staff and department expenditures while improving service to taxpayers by leveraging technology. Chief of Business Services Daryl Hennessy, Development Services Agency – Hennessy is primarily responsible for helping to transform Ohio’s economic, small business, and technology-based development efforts into a more customer-service oriented, efficient, and effective system. The event will begin with a networking lunch at noon, followed by a roundtable discussion and workshop at 1 p.m. and concluding at 2:30 p.m. Lunch will be catered by Bone Boy’s Barbecue and Catering.
