Overflow Ministries, a Christian ministry focused on loving the lost, supporting the unsupported, and developing the next generation of Christian leaders, will be taking over the space and open for service by the end of August. Pastor Byron Denman of Hopewell Church of God heads up the non-denominational ministry, which is a collaboration between several area churches. According to Denman, "The goal is to provide a community worship environment that builds up an ecumenical sense of worship." Overflow caters to young adults, the college students in particular. They provide a safe place for young adults to gather and participate in worship, bible study, fellowship, and meals. Another key component is service to the community. Denman says the ministry hopes to instill in these young people what it means to be civic leaders in communities. "It isn't passive," he said. "It's something that makes an impact on you and where you make an impact." For about a year and half, the ministry has been housed with Grace Outrageous Ministry at 134 S. Washington St. Overflow's normal Saturday service has now outgrown the space, leading to the search for a new location.
