City of Tiffin and Seneca County officially accept document
TIFFIN, OHIO – MARCH 1, 2019 – The Downtown Tiffin Parking Committee released the “Downtown Tiffin Parking Study & Garage Analysis” to the public today, following the official acceptance of the document by Tiffin City Council on February 4, 2019, and by the Seneca County Board of Commissioners on February 14. The document can be found here or at tiffinseneca.org by searching parking study.
The Parking Committee is made up of representatives of the Tiffin City Administration, Tiffin City Council, the Seneca County Commissioners, the Seneca County Auditor, the Clerk of Courts, and the Seneca County Court of Common Pleas and Juvenile/Probate Court, the Tiffin-Fostoria Municipal Court, and other stakeholders.
The $19,000 study was commissioned by the Committee in January 2018 and funded equally by the Judges (Common Pleas, Municipal, Juvenile Probate), Seneca County, and the City of Tiffin. It was managed by the Tiffin-Seneca Economic Partnership and conducted by the Cincinnati-based Gossman Group, who was responsible for both the 2010 Downtown Strategic and 2016 Downtown Growth & Development Plan. The final draft was completed in September, with the Parking Committee reviewing, modifying and finally accepting the document in October. The study was then presented to both Tiffin City Council and the Seneca County Commission in November, was reviewed and then accepted earlier this month.
Committee Chair and Common Pleas Judge Steve Shuff was complimentary of the finished product: “The needs of our justice system, businesses, government, and events downtown continue to increase, and we need to think about how to meet the short- and long-term needs for parking. This study helps us understand what those needs are and will be in the future.”
Tiffin Mayor Aaron Montz concurred: “Our downtown continues to thrive, and we want to ensure that there is enough parking and that people know how to find it, how to access it, and that they are comfortable with it. The study is an important step as we look to address current and future concerns.”
Seneca County Commission President Shayne Thomas also commented, “I am proud of the spirit of cooperation among downtown stakeholders for funding and completing this study.”
