Four building owners granted funds
TIFFIN, OHIO – April 16, 2019 – Today, the Architectural Board of Review (ABR) approved Façade Enhancement Grants for work to four buildings, including roof repairs of three buildings in Downtown Tiffin. The City of Tiffin has set aside $100,000 for projects this year.
The owners of the buildings had requested $5,743.24 to replace and repair exterior doors and for masonry repointing at 145-147 Madison Street; and $3,962.50 for 25 E. Perry St., $7,512 for Bolte Real Estate, 23 S. Washington St., and $10,000 for Tong's Air Conditioning, Heating & Plumbing Inc., 40 E. Perry St., each for roof repairs.
With these projects, the total amount spent for 2019 is $56,743.22 of the available $100,000 for a total investment of $146,724.44. In April and March, the ABR approved two $10,000 grants to replace the roofs for Reclaim It, 127 S. Washington St., and the Renaissance of Tiffin, 129 S. Washington St., and in January, the board approved grants for 269 S. Washington St. and 27 Court St.
Tiffin Mayor Aaron Montz commented: “With more than half of the allotted funds used, I’m glad the Façade Enhancement Grant continues to be a benefit to owners of properties in Downtown Tiffin.”
To apply for a Façade Enhancement Grant, the building owner should meet with Tiffin-Seneca Economic Partnership Downtown Main Street Manager AmyReinhart to discuss how the program works and obtain an application. Once the application is submitted, reviewed and deemed complete and without issues, the Architectural Board of Review will consider it before approval. Since the program’s inception in 2014, 68 projects have been approved for a total downtown investment of nearly $2.2 million.
About the Façade Enhancement ProgramThis City of Tiffin reimbursement grant program was started in 2014 and provides a 50 percent match of funds for eligible exterior improvements on residential and commercial structures within the downtown historic district, up to $10,000.
