Board approves five façade grants for downtown businesses

Less than $7,000 available for 2019 program

TIFFIN, OHIO – May 7, 2019 – Today, the Architectural Board of Review (ABR) approved Façade Enhancement Grants for work to five buildings, including updating storefronts and replacing windows for businesses in Downtown Tiffin. The City of Tiffin has set aside $100,000 for projects this year.

At the meeting, the ABR is to review a Downtown Façade Enhancement Grant applications for balcony railing, windows and doors for Tiffin Elks Lodge No. 94, 106 E. Perry St.; a partial demolition and storefront windows for JVC Properties Ltd/Bennett Paulus, 65 E. Market St.; windows, doors and exterior lighting for Pimadiz Properties, LLC/Jessica Tribolet, 174 S. Washington St.; window glass replacement and vitrolite repair/replacement for Tiffin Community Reinvestment Group LLC/Ann Gase, 114 S. Washington St.; and roof repair/replacement for Jin Li and Dai Tuo Zheng/Jay Zheng, 257 S. Washington St.

With these projects, the total amount spent for 2019 is $93,108.95 of the available $100,000 for a total investment of $220,955.89. The ABR previously approved grants for the owners of eight buildings in Downtown Tiffin.

Tiffin Mayor Aaron Montz commented: “I’m glad to see so many building owners have taken interest in this program and the amount of investment happening in our community.”

To apply for a Façade Enhancement Grant, the building owner should meet with Tiffin-Seneca Economic Partnership Downtown Main Street Manager Amy Reinhart to discuss how the program works and obtain an application. Once the application is submitted, reviewed and deemed complete and without issues, the Architectural Board of Review will consider it before approval. Since the program’s inception in 2014, 68 projects have been approved for a total downtown investment of nearly $2.2 million.

About the Façade Enhancement ProgramThis City of Tiffin reimbursement grant program was started in 2014 and provides a 50 percent match of funds for eligible exterior improvements on residential and commercial structures within the downtown historic district, up to $10,000.
