Tiffin, Ohio – Sept. 21, 2020 – Today, Tiffin City Council approved a resolution to provide the city’s New Jobs Program tax credit to Dorel Home, a segment of Dorel Industries Inc. (TSX:DII.B, DII.A), for the planned expansion of 87 new employees and $3.27 million investment at the Ameriwood Home facility in Tiffin, Ohio, over the next 4 years. Final approval for the project is contingent upon the receipt of state and local incentives. The company currently employs 218 people in Seneca County.

Norman Braunstein, President and CEO for Dorel Home, said, “We are excited to announce that we will be expanding in our facility in Tiffin. Tiffin has been an important partner in Dorel’s business model and will continue to rely on it as the company grows.”

Dorel’s investment in Tiffin includes $2.57 million in new machinery and equipment and $700,000 in updates to the facility.

Tiffin Mayor Aaron Montz commented, “I am proud that Tiffin was chosen as the location for this expansion and hope that the company will continue to invest in Tiffin for many years to come. In light of these difficult times, I'm excited that we are able to share the good news with our citizens that we continue to be a community that is growing.”

Tiffin-Seneca Economic Partnership (TSEP) and Regional Growth Partnership in Northwest Ohio (RGP) worked with Dorel Home and consultant MarksNelson to bring this project to Ohio. Local incentives include the City of Tiffin’s New Jobs Program, which provides a maximum credit of up to 50 percent of new personal income taxes collected from the qualifying new jobs for up to five years, and OhioMeansJobs-Seneca County is offering up to $387,000 in potential workforce development grants.

At the state level, RGP secured a Jobs Creation Tax Credit, Training Grant and Economic Development Grant through JobsOhio.

“We are grateful for the collaboration with RGP, the Tiffin-Seneca Economic Partnership and the Development Services Agency to bring Dorel’s expansion and 87 new jobs to Northwest Ohio,” said J.P. Nauseef, JobsOhio president and CEO. “Dorel’s expansion at its ready-to-assemble furniture plant will update its equipment and bring more opportunity to Tiffin as Ohio continues to grow its economy.”
