Diverse Development looking to build new shopping center in Tiffin
TIFFIN, OHIO – March 2, 2016 – Kenneth Hicks, principal of Diverse Development, has announced his intentions of locating a strip mall-style shopping center in Tiffin, Ohio. The proposed space would be a $1.1 million investment, with three retail spaces, and would be located at the site of the former First Merit bank branch at 596 W. Market Street. The center is expected to be completed this year.
“With all of the growth Tiffin has been experiencing recently, it seems the perfect time to do this development. We’re doing some additional due diligence and will be applying for a local tax exemption, but if everything goes well, we would hope to start construction as soon as possible,” Hicks said.
The proposed structure will house three retail spaces with a combined total of 4,600 square feet of space. Hicks currently owns the property and is working with long-time development partner Midwest Contracting on clearing the parcel and the construction of the new building. Though no leases have been signed yet, Hicks is projecting the creation of anywhere from 40-70 retail or restaurant jobs.
Diverse Development was founded in Holland, Ohio over five years ago and has more than 100,000 square feet in 11 retail centers in Northwest Ohio. Hicks has placed businesses including Aspen Dental, Petco, GameStop, Starbucks, Tropical Smoothie and AT&T in his retail centers in Findlay, Lima, Perrysburg and Bowling Green.
Tiffin Mayor Aaron Montz was pleased with the news: ”I’m excited to see another major retail development happening in our city. Projects like this mean more jobs, investment, and shopping options for residents, students, and visitors. The momentum continues.”
