Work has begun on a new downtown Tiffin mural, located in on the north wall of the Supance/Howard building
84 South Washington Street, facing city parking lot 7. The mural depicts three arches, with a picture taken in the 1950's facing south at the corner of South Washington Street and Perry Street in the middle arch, and tributes to the City of Tiffin and state of Ohio on either side.
Artist
Kymberlee Wood is painting the mural. Wood was apprentice to
Eric Grohe, who painted the mural titled,
"Liberty Remembers" in Bucyrus. She graduated from the
Columbus College of Art and Design with a bachelors' degree in fine arts in 2003. Since then, her positions have included lighting designer, interior designer, art instructor, freelance artist for the
Franklin Park Conservatory. Her current services include interior design, graphic design, murals, pottery, drawing, painting (oil and acrylic), jewelry and face painting.
Leadership Seneca County commissioned the mural as part of the
Tiffin Downtown Strategic Plan, and two-thirds of the funding for the project came from private or corporate donations. The mural is expected to cost $21-24,000, depending on the costs of paint required and what work will need to be done to the bricks. The mural should be completed in July.
