Built in the late 1800s by Tiffin’s first millionaire, Rezin Shawhan, the building is part of what was once the “Empire Block” on South Washington Street and is the current location of The Beanstalk & Company. The Beanstalk is to remain in the commercial space on the first floor and three upstairs apartments will be renovated in two phases. Phase one includes restoring the flooring, reverting the plaster back to brick, painting, redoing the railing around the loft and updating the bathroom and kitchen in the 2,000 square foot loft apartment occupying two stories of the building. Phase two involves renovating the other two apartments.Image removed. The project may also qualify for a Façade Enhancement Grant for external work such as window restoration, trim painting and front door replacement. "We love downtown Tiffin and think with all the positive development, it's a great time to invest." owner Weston Reinbolt said. Both Tiffin natives, Reinbolt and his wife Suzie Reineke moved back to Tiffin after living in Columbus and Findlay, and recently remodeled a previously foreclosed home in Findlay. "We are really looking forward to living in downtown Tiffin and to be part of its renaissance. It's an exciting time," Reineke added.
