SENECA COUNTY, OHIO – April 24, 2023 – The Seneca County Rural Housing Market Analysis has been completed, revealing a significant need for new housing units in the county. According to the study, Seneca County needs to add between 65-85 new housing units annually for the next several years just to keep pace with other communities. Within the next decade, the county will require nearly 1,000 new housing units to meet the demand for affordable housing.

The Seneca County Rural Housing Market Analysis was funded by the Seneca County Board of Commissioners after hearing from constituents regarding the extreme lack of housing options available in the county. The analysis and final report were conducted by DiSalvo Development Advisors (DDA) and Tiffin-Seneca Economic Partnership (TSEP), representing the first comprehensive analysis of the county's housing market in decades.

The study found that Seneca County has actually seen a reduction in the number of available housing units in the last two decades. This trend must be reversed if the county wants to continue to finish in the top 10% of all Micropolitans for economic development projects going forward.

Commenting on the results of the study, the Chair of the Seneca County Board of Commissioners, Tony Paradiso, stated, "The findings of the Seneca County Rural Housing Market Analysis are concerning, but not surprising. The lack of available housing units in our county has been a growing concern for years. The Board of Commissioners is committed to working with the Tiffin-Seneca Economic Partnership to address this issue."

Addressing the lack of housing at all price points will be a primary mission of the Tiffin-Seneca Economic Partnership going forward. The Partnership will be working with local developers and community leaders to develop solutions that will provide affordable housing options for residents of Seneca County.
