Tiffin, Ohio – August 29th, 2024 – The Tiffin-Seneca Economic Partnership (TSEP) is thrilled to announce the acquisition of the former Cinemark Theater by Seneca Cinema & Event Center, a local investment group comprised of eight prominent business leaders all from Seneca County. The group, with deep roots in industries such as construction, education, and media, is dedicated to revitalizing the beloved theater and rebranding it as the Seneca Starvue.

The Seneca Starvue will continue to offer first-run, new release movies across its eight screens, which can accommodate a total of 1,300 patrons. Each theater room ranges in capacity from 71 to 252 guests, ensuring a comfortable and intimate movie-going experience. In addition to the latest Hollywood blockbusters, the theater will also host special "throwback" themed movie nights, celebrating classic films that audiences have cherished over the years.

"When I learned Cinemark would not being renewing their lease, I knew I had to act," said Dale Depew, Tiffin Mall Manager. "The commitment of local investors to enhance this space demonstrates our belief in the future of Tiffin and Seneca County."

Significant upgrades and enhancements are planned for the Seneca Starvue, all with the goal of providing the best possible movie experience for patrons. The local group is also exploring the potential to purchase the outbuildings surrounding the theater, with preliminary discussions already underway to bring a second regional restaurant to one of the empty structures.

“Our goal is for Seneca Starvue to become a destination for families, businesses, and those seeking a unique entertainment experience,” said Dennis Armstrong, local businessman and investor. “We aim to create something truly special here which will benefit people of all ages and walks of life.”

The Seneca Starvue is poised to become more than just a movie theater; it will serve as a vibrant event center as well. The theater will be available for private rentals, accommodating events such as parties, concerts, and comedy shows. Local talent and contractors will be hired to prepare the theater for its grand reopening, slated for 4:00 PM on September 25th.

Tiffin Mayor Lee Wilkinson expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, "This acquisition by local investors is a testament to the strong community spirit in Tiffin and Seneca County. The Seneca Starvue will not only continue to be a place for entertainment but will also contribute to the economic vitality of our region."

As the team works diligently to ready the Seneca Starvue for its debut, the community can look forward to a premier entertainment destination that remains rooted in local ownership and pride.
