First floor to be renovated with new offices, visitor center
TIFFIN, OHIO – Jan. 6, 2022 – With this building purchase, TSEP intends to begin renovation of the first floor to include a new Welcome Center for Destination Seneca County and new offices for TSEP and The Chamber. While renovations are being completed, TSEP and the Chamber will be operating out of the second floor of the building, which will be accessible to the public during business hours, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Built in 1881, 94-96 S. Washington Street is marked as the Grummel-Remmele Block. The building has had many tenants in its history, including American Discount and most recently as the American Institute of Massage Therapy.
TSEP, then Seneca Industrial and Economic Development Corp., purchased the Bradley Building in 2010 and made that theirs and the Chamber’s offices for more than 10 years. This move brings the offices back into the heart of Downtown Tiffin, after having previously operated out of 62 S. Washington St.
TSEP President & CEO David Zak said with the announcement, “It is exciting to move back to and invest in historic downtown Tiffin. With this project, TSEP joins the many property owners and investors who are financially committed to revitalizing our civic core. As the lead agency for downtown revitalization, it’s right where we belong, and we couldn’t be happier working side by side with the Chamber and Destination Seneca County.” Chamber Executive Director Bryce Riggs agreed, saying, “We are excited about this next evolution for the Chamber and tourism in Seneca County. We believe a new, upscale welcome center will be inviting and informative for visitors and residents alike.”
Tiffin Mayor Aaron Montz said, “Tiffin-Seneca Economic Partnership’s commitment to purchase and renovate its new building in Downtown Tiffin shows the organization is willing to lead by example by preserving their historic property.” Seneca County Commissioner Tony Paradiso added, “I’m excited to see TSEP continuing to invest in Seneca County. Above all, I’m excited about the opportunities of the welcome center to bring people into our community.”
