Tiffin Pointe housing development announced

The NRP Group is awarded $800,000 state tax credits for the $9.1M project

Tiffin PointeTIFFIN, OHIO – June 16, 2016 – Following yesterday’s announcement by the Ohio Housing Finance Agency (OHFA) awarding $800,000 in housing tax credits to the NRP Group, the Cleveland-based housing developer announced today that they intend to move forward with the Tiffin Pointe garden-style apartment complex project. The project will be located on 7.5 acres at 1692 West Market Street, and construction is expected to begin early next year.

The Tiffin Pointe project will feature up to 52 two-, three-, and four-bedroom units along with a Clubhouse.  The project will involve a total investment of $9.1 million, and the units will have open floor plans, multiple bathrooms, modern appliances, and security systems. The property will feature a clubhouse, picnic area, library, playground, laundry facilities, and a computer room. There will also be onsite management to oversee the property and work directly with residents to assist them in connecting with local, state, and federal resources.

In making the announcement, NRP Assistant Developer Mary Hada praised the community, saying “Tiffin has been one of the easiest communities to work in, and we hope to do future projects here. We are excited that this development will provide additional quality affordable housing and meet a large community need.” The project was one of 40 to receive tax credits out of 92 applicants and is still contingent on receiving a local Community Reinvestment Area tax exemption. NRP plans on applying for that program in the near future.

NRP is also required to create, fund and implement a relocation assistance plan to help any involuntarily displaced residents of the current Westgate Mobile Home Park, which is located on part of the site and has 16 units. The plan will be funded by $50,000 in pledged developer fees and will be reviewed and approved by the Seneca County Family and Children First Council as well as WSOS Community Action.

Tiffin Mayor Aaron Montz was very pleased by the news. “We’re firing on all cylinders right now, with industrial, retail, downtown, and now residential development booming as well. And the best part is, we are improving the quality of life for all Tiffin residents and putting measures in place to ensure everyone affected will be supported.”

Webster Industries announces $8M expansion

Project expects to create 65 jobs in the next three years

TIFFIN, OHIO – October 17, 2014 – Webster Industries announces today its intention to select Tiffin as its location for its next three-year, $8.3 million expansion. Tiffin beat out Meridian, Mississippi – where Webster has another manufacturing location – and northern Alabama, who has been recruiting the company for months. The decision is contingent upon the finalization of state and local incentives.

The project is expected to create 65 new jobs and retain all 294 existing employees at their Tiffin headquarters. A new 38,000 square foot expansion will be constructed onto their existing facility, the headquarters will be renovated, and an additional $4.5 million investment into new machinery and equipment will be made. The project is motivated by new global business opportunities, expected increases in targeted markets, new product offerings, and continued improvement in service through vertical integration.

President & CEO Andrew Felter attributes the decision to strong growth opportunities, a committed and experienced workforce in Tiffin, an established localized supply chain, and significant support from state and local government. “We are proud to be an employee-owned company located in Tiffin, Ohio.  Webster’s people are and will continue to be the key to our success. These reasons and the committed incentives from JobsOhio and the City of Tiffin pushed the decision over the top.”

Tiffin Mayor Aaron Montz was very pleased by the news. “Tiffin is a community on the move, and this investment continues our track record of success in economic development. We are proud Webster calls Tiffin home and appreciate their contributions to our economy.” Dean Monske, President & CEO of the Regional Growth Partnership, “We are pleased to serve as the JobsOhio regional partner and work with Webster and Tiffin to make this deal happen. Northwest Ohio is experiencing an industrial renaissance, and Webster is part of that story.”

Tiffin City Council will first be reviewing applications for the 50 percent, ten-year Enterprise Zone tax exemption and a 50 percent, five-year Municipal Income Tax Credit on Monday, October 20. The project is also expected to receive a JobsOhio Economic Development Grant and go before the Ohio Tax Credit Authority at the end of the month for a potential Ohio Job Creation Tax Credit.
