Pizza Palooza-1TIFFIN, OHIO – June 23, 2015 – Pizza Palooza and Family Movie Night, sponsored by Reineke Family Dealerships, will take place July 16, starting at 6 p.m., at the courthouse green space in downtown Tiffin.

“It’s going to be a great night to bring your family out and enjoy a taste of Tiffin and a movie,” said Tiffin Mayor Aaron Montz. “It will also be the last event to take place on the downtown green space before the groundbreaking of the new Joint Justice Center.”

Seven Tiffin pizzerias have signed on to participate: AJ’s Heavenly Pizza, Domino’s, Fort Ball Pizza Palace, Marco’s Pizza, Napoli Pizza, Pizza Hut and Reino’s Pizza & Pasta. Attendees can purchase $1 tickets that can be redeemed for a slice of pizza from any vendor, potato chips provided by Ballreich’s, soda provided by S&S Variety Beverage or water provided by Hempy Water of Tiffin. Half of each ticket sold will go toward downtown revitalization, and AJ’s Heavenly Pizza has pledged to donate their profits from the event to Patchworks House.

There will also be a blind pizza tasting contest where contestants will attempt to identify the restaurant by taste. The event will kick-off with local celebrities taking the challenge, including Mayor Aaron Montz, Commissioner Holly Stacy and Reineke Marketing Manager Greg Dell.

A screening of blockbuster hit Zootopia will begin at dusk. Attendees are invited to bring their own chairs or blankets to enjoy the show. Tiffin Parks and Recreation is providing the movie equipment.

Families are also encouraged to come ready to play on the green space. Cornhole boards will be provided by Who’s Nuts and WTSC Seneca County Online Radio will be providing music.

Around the Town event welcomes back university students

around the townNearly 1,000 Heidelberg and Tiffin University students will have an opportunity to see what more than 60 Tiffin businesses and organizations are all about at a Welcome Back Students/Around the Town Event this Saturday, Aug. 22 from 3 – 5 p.m. on the courthouse green space.

Around the Town is one of the signature events of the Downtown Strategic Plan, and this is the first year that the event will be held downtown and combine both universities.

WTSC Seneca County Radio will be live broadcasting from the event, playing music and interviewing guests. Several restaurants will be providing free samples, shops and restaurants will hand out coupons and menus, non-profits will provide students with information about how to get involved in their organizations and students can check out local services.

SIEDC Downtown Development Specialist Bryce Riggs is a Heidelberg student the lead organizer of the event. “As a student and lifelong Tiffin resident, I am aware of the opportunities in the community, but the majority of new students don’t know what’s out there or where they can go. Tiffin has so much to offer! I would like other students to know what’s out there, so they can get involved in the local organizations and visit our restaurants and shops,” Riggs said.

Ole! – World Cup event to be held Sunday in downtown Tiffin

Downtown Tiffin pubs, taverns and eateries celebrated Team USA’s victory against Ghana last Monday at the 2014 FIFA World Cup event. For the next game against Portugal, we’re kicking it up a notch. We will be showing the game on a big outdoor 400 square foot screen on the Courthouse Green (117 E. Market St.) in downtown Tiffin. The event will be free, and will be shown at 6 pm on Sunday, June 22, 2014.

To ensure a great experience in case of bad weather, there will be a tent with chairs to accommodate up to 100 people. Water will be free and available. Free parking available on street or in several city lots, including one directly across from the green.

Sponsors of the event include National Machinery, Time Warner Cable, and arrangers and promoters of the event include the Seneca Industrial and Economic Development Corp. (SIEDC) and the Seneca Regional Chamber of Commerce. Event flyer can be obtained here.
