A new mobile phone retailer is coming to Tiffin. A Boost Mobile franchise is set to open next week in the retail center currently housing Chipotle, at the corner of Ashwood Drive and W. Market Street.
Ben Sayed, a partner in franchise owners Wireless Boys, expressed their excitement at moving into the community. “It’s a beautiful town and we believe we will be a great asset,” he said. “We are looking forward to serving the Tiffin community.”
Wireless Boys began in 2011 and currently owns and operates 15 Boost Mobile franchises in the Northwest Ohio area. Their most recent store opened in Fremont this week.
The retail center was constructed in 2016 by Diverse Development, a real estate development firm based in Holland, Ohio. The center includes three units, one of which (a 1,400 square foot end unit) is still available for lease.
Diverse Development signs lease with national restaurant chain
TIFFIN, OHIO – April 14, 2016 – Diverse Development announced today that Chipotle Mexican Grill intends to open a store in Tiffin later this year in the center Diverse Development is planning to construct at the corner of West Market Street and Ashwood Road. The lease is contingent upon approval of a local tax exemption later this month.
Diverse Development President Ken Hicks complimented the city of Tiffin in making the announcement. “Tiffin’s growth over the past few years and business-friendly atmosphere has made it easy for me and national retailers like Chipotle to move forward with projects. We really appreciate the support we have received so far.”
Tiffin Mayor Aaron Montz was excited with the news. “We’ve been aggressive in courting Chipotle and other businesses to come to town, and I am glad to see our efforts get rewarded. We welcome them with open arms and will do whatever we can to make it easy to come here.”
The Seneca Industrial and Economic Development Corp. (SIEDC), the economic development non-profit for Tiffin and Seneca County, also confirmed today that the State of Ohio has officially approved the 70-acre Community Reinvestment Area (CRA) passed by Tiffin City Council in February, so they are now able to take applications. Diverse Development has submitted their application and is in the process of being scheduled to go to Council later this month. If approved, the project would move forward quickly, Hicks indicated.
Heidelberg President and SIEDC Chair Rob Huntington was also pleased with the announcement. “Our college students at Tiffin University and Heidelberg University, as well as our high school students and their families in town, have been wanting Chipotle to come here for years. They will be very excited to hear this news! It will improve student quality of life and provide another recognizable, well-liked brand for prospective students.”

Diverse Development looking to build new shopping center in Tiffin
TIFFIN, OHIO – March 2, 2016 – Kenneth Hicks, principal of Diverse Development, has announced his intentions of locating a strip mall-style shopping center in Tiffin, Ohio. The proposed space would be a $1.1 million investment, with three retail spaces, and would be located at the site of the former First Merit bank branch at 596 W. Market Street. The center is expected to be completed this year.
“With all of the growth Tiffin has been experiencing recently, it seems the perfect time to do this development. We’re doing some additional due diligence and will be applying for a local tax exemption, but if everything goes well, we would hope to start construction as soon as possible,” Hicks said.
The proposed structure will house three retail spaces with a combined total of 4,600 square feet of space. Hicks currently owns the property and is working with long-time development partner Midwest Contracting on clearing the parcel and the construction of the new building. Though no leases have been signed yet, Hicks is projecting the creation of anywhere from 40-70 retail or restaurant jobs.
Diverse Development was founded in Holland, Ohio over five years ago and has more than 100,000 square feet in 11 retail centers in Northwest Ohio. Hicks has placed businesses including Aspen Dental, Petco, GameStop, Starbucks, Tropical Smoothie and AT&T in his retail centers in Findlay, Lima, Perrysburg and Bowling Green.
