Arnold Machine acquires Findlay Machine and Tool division

AMI to produce equipment under FMT brand, bring staff to Tiffin

TIFFIN, OHIO – Aug. 6, 2020Arnold Machine Inc., a full-service designer and manufacturer of custom automated systems, announced today that it has completed a deal to acquire industrial parts washer and custom equipment division of Findlay Machine & Tool. AMI employs 50 people at its facility in Tiffin, 19 Heritage Drive.

Findlay Machine & Tool had more than 30 years of business building industrial parts washers in Findlay. FMT has a plastics division that will continue to operate in Findlay. AMI will be manufacturing the equipment at its plant in Tiffin under the FMT brand, and is adding 13 employees from FMT to the AMI staff.

“The work being done at Findlay Machine & Tool fits perfectly with what we were already doing at AMI, and diversifies our product offerings,” President and Owner Zach Arnold said. “We’re excited to be bringing that production and these highly skilled workers to Tiffin.”

President and Owner Zach Arnold started Arnold Machine in a garage as a small custom machine shop, beginning with machining and fabricating, in 1994. The business grew quickly, and branched out into designing and manufacturing automation systems in a 50,000 square foot building in the Northstar Industrial Park in Tiffin. The company now has more than a hundred customers throughout the United States, including Commercial Metals Company, Sonoco, Bridgestone, Cooper Tires, Libbey, Nucor, Whirlpool, Roush Fenway Racing, National Machinery, NISIN and SSC. In 2016, AMI announced a $1.6 million, 25,000 square foot addition to their facility, which has since been completed.

2018 Economic Development Award – Arnold Machine

The 2018 Economic Development Award was presented to Arnold Machine for their recent 25,000 square foot expansion, creating 25 new jobs.

Zach Arnold started Arnold Machine in a garage as a small custom machine shop, beginning with machining and fabricating, in 1994. The business grew quickly, and branched out into designing and manufacturing manufacturing systems in a 50,000 square foot building in the Northstar Industrial Park in Tiffin. The company now has more than a hundred customers throughout the United States, including Commercial Metals Company, Sonoco, Bridgestone, Cooper Tires, Libbey, Nucor, Whirlpool, Roush Fenway Racing, National Machinery, NISIN and SSC.

Arnold is a Sentinel Career Center alum and still maintains a strong relationship with the career technology institution. Arnold serves on their business advisory council and hires on students through a work-study program, as well as a new three-phase employment program that starts students out working in their Junior year of high school and prepares them to be hired on upon graduation. More than 40% of the workforce at Arnold Machine are now Sentinel grads.

In 2016, Arnold Machine announced a new, 25,000 square foot addition to their facility, adding 25 jobs. The expansion was built and completed, the space is full, and 11 of the 25 positions have been created and filled.

Arnold has had a long relationship with SIEDC. In 1996, they purchased their first brand-new machine using the Revolving Loan Fund with SIEDC’s assistance. Today, Zach Arnold serves on the SIEDC Board of Trustees.

Local investor group expands Tiffin plant

Addition adds 15,000 square feet to Northstar Industrial Park facility  

owens-corningTIFFIN, OHIO – December 5, 2016 – A local investor group has announced that they are expanding their 60,000-square-foot industrial facility located at 145 Heritage Drive in the Northstar Industrial Park.

The facility was constructed in 1994 and has been leased to Owens Corning – a leading producer of insulation, roofing, and fiberglass composites – since 1995. The current expansion is underway and is expected to be finished by February 1, 2017.

The Tiffin facility employs about 85 people and produces insulation products for appliance manufacturers.

In order to support the 15,000-square-foot expansion, a 15-year, 100-percent Community Reinvestment Area tax exemption is being provided, and all existing property owners in the industrial park as well as representatives of the City of Tiffin approved the project.

Tiffin Mayor Aaron Montz was pleased with the announcement.  “Manufacturing is the number one employer in the Tiffin area, and further investment like this continues to strengthen it,” he said. “We are pleased to see our economic development momentum continue.”
