SIEDC becomes the Tiffin-Seneca Economic Partnership

Tiffin-Seneca Economic Partnership Logo CMYKTIFFIN, OHIO – September 24, 2018 – Effective today, the Seneca Industrial and Economic Development Corp (SIEDC) is now the Tiffin-Seneca Economic Partnership.

Following the completion of the community branding initiative in the spring of this year, the board of directors discussed whether the time was right to revise the organization’s name. Although everyone agreed that SIEDC has been a successful and well-known organization locally, more than eighty percent felt some changes could be made. A member and public survey was issued to get feedback, and more than a hundred people provided feedback that resulted in the final decision. The board voted unanimously to move forward with the name last month.

“The new name better reflects our geographic area, clarifies the purpose of the organization, and stresses the collaboration of the community,” said Chair Lynn Detterman.

President & CEO David Zak agreed, saying “The name provides more clarity to those who are unfamiliar with the community, including developers, as it is more location specific and better aligns with the current naming conventions of other economic development organizations.

“It also shows are close collaboration with both the City of Tiffin and all of Seneca County, while broadening our scope to include not just traditional economic development, but also downtown and community development, all of which drives economic growth.”

The new name is effective immediately and will be reflected in changes to existing materials such as the website, organizational email addresses, letterhead and other collateral, and implemented on new materials produced in the future.

Warm up at Heidelberg’s Fireside Pub

2014_01_23 - Fireside Door Glass LogoOne of the great things about living in Tiffin is our two great universities–Heidelberg and Tiffin Universities. Combined they have about 3,000 students living close to downtown Tiffin; they continue to expand and invest in beautiful facilities; they add great cultural events, diversity and stimulation to our community.

The other thing they bring is WiFi until midnight :) This is how I discovered the Fireside Cafe Pub–by googling for WiFi in Tiffin, found the restaurant, and then discovered they were open until midnight every day…except for Friday and Saturday when they stay open until 1:00 am. So, when I’m looking for a more relaxing, warm, cozy, energetic place to do some work in the evenings, I now have a great option.

Inside the beautiful $6.6M Residence Hall and University Commons building, where construction was finished in 2011, the Fireside Pub opened that same year, on October. 28. They truly do have a nice fireplace, booths (which I like) with multiple electrical outlets, and a nice food and beverage selection. The ceilings are really nice and high, and it gives the whole place a nice open feel. The food is handled by ARAMARK, and they do a nice job; the menu is slightly upscale. My favorite dish is the hummus plate which comes with a delightful hummus (with or without feta), a wide selection of fresh veggies and hot, and grilled flatbread. They have plenty of more substantial meals as well like pizza, burgers, apricot glazed chicken, and sesame crusted salmon. Check out their current menu here. Beer selection isn’t huge, but with three taps and a decent bottle selection, you should be able to find a good libation.

So, WiFi, beer, food, and fire that has that Heidelberg vibe but is open to the entire community (and you’ll feel welcome). I would definitely call this another Seneca Success story.
