Meet Ryan Poignon, founder and owner of The Poignon Project, an art studio and gallery located at 227 E. Perry St. in Tiffin. Ryan and his wife moved back to Tiffin from Pennsylvania 4 years ago and opened the Retro Rabbit to save up for The Poignon Project. “It’s affordable to have a business in Tiffin, and there are so many resources available,” Ryan said.
Ryan specializes in glassblowing, which he does in the shop, as well as screen printing, woodworking, photography, cremation jewelry, personalized journals, art made of repurposed items and much more. His wife also makes home decorations and custom orders. They also display pieces created by local artists.Through their Etsy store, the Poignons sell items in all 50 states and internationally.
Recently, they started offering painting classes with Chelsea Bickelhaupt. Ryan said he would like to expand the classes and include glassblowing. They are always working on new projects, like noise instruments for a music circle, and a special Ouija board.
The Poignon Project is open Thursday 12-8, Friday 2-9, and Saturday 12-8.
